Pep Guardiola joins Bayern Munich

Story on BBC

Good move for Guardiola and Bayern. Guardiola would want a project to develop, where money and patience would be available, and Bayern has a rich history and is one of the biggest clubs in the world. He would be expected to win from the get go, but the club will also give him time if he needs it.

Funny thing is, there could have been only two or three clubs around right now who would have been able to match Guardiola's terms - Man United, Bayern, and perhaps Milan. The rest, eg Chelsea, City, would have been too unpalatable to him, I believe.

But Ferguson is still going strong, and Milan doesn't have money to spend any more, so for now, Bayern is looking very set for the next few years.

Here's the background story to the hiring from Guardian as well.

Looking ahead, it's interesting that he signed only a 3 year contract, and hopefully, Ferguson will retire at the same time Guardiola becomes available again. If not, United might very well end up with Jose...
